Wood City – A gateway to the urban Jätkäsaari
Wood City is located at a central and prominent spot in central Helsinki, functioning as a gateway to the new city district of Jätkäsaari, in the middle of constantly developing services. The office building, hotel and residential buildings all have great views over an urban, maritime scenery.
This landmark of wood architecture binds seamlessly into the surrounding traffic networks – Jätkäsaari is easily reached by tram, bus, metro and Baana, a pedestrian and bike path. Wood City offers ample parking space for both bikes and cars. The adjacent West Harbour furthermore provides an effortless connection to the Baltic Sea. The centre of Helsinki can be reached in five minutes.
In the middle of growth
By 2025, Jätkäsaari will be home to some 17,000 residents of Helsinki and approximately 6,000 jobs. Jätkäsaari will come to include about 20 hectares of parks and an increasingly well-functioning passenger port expanding in the direction of the sea.
Recreation for everyday life
The shores of Jätkäsaari provide a view over the open sea. A promenade runs round the entire island, characterised by the park Hyväntoivonpuisto that runs through it. A high-standard fitness park and Bunkkeri, the versatile sports and leisure centre to be built next to it, will also provide plenty of opportunities for exercise and recreation.
